Welcome to Train Lodge, Cape Town

AFRICAN TRAIN LODGE is a budget accommodation and entertainment establishment, situated in the city centre of Cape Town, South Africa.

It consists of 10 vintage railway coaches that have been shunted into place, five on each side of a long platform � the old Monument Station at Cape Town Station. The coaches are still on the tracks and the platform has not been altered, but an incredible lodge has been built around these coaches and platform.

Accommodation

Rooms at African Train Lodge are situated in eight vintage railway coaches. Each coach has been given a name that symbolizes the majesty and beauty of South Africa.

Accommodation is in 2- and 4-berth compartments (single bed)
Brand new bathroom facilities have been built behind and separate from the coaches.

We have included �necessities� such as three television lounges, a swimming pool, bbq area, self-catering kitchen and a pool table.

Caf� & Bar

Our pride and joy is our X-pres Caf� & Bar � a full restaurant in two coaches and on the platform, consisting of dining car, bar car and central coffee shop. The X-pres is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is a popular spot for sundowner drinks and business luncheons.

Other facilities at African Train Lodge include a Travel Centre and Internet Cafe..

What to Expect

What should you expect when walking into African Train Lodge?
A Train Station, complete with sounds, atmosphere and look of an original Railway Station � expect a relaxed and warm environment where you are able to relax and let your senses do a little travelling of their own.

Hear the traditional sounds of the large Steam Engines as they depart and arrive next door. See the beauty of Cape Town�s Table Mountain from the pool deck or the hustle and bustle of the railway junction at the main station. Feel the cool and refreshing waters of the pool or the warmth of the blankets in your compartment at night and smell the aromas of fresh coffee or cappuccino at the coffee shop in the mornings.
