With a name like Bisibee you wouldn�t expect a super-slick interior designer�s playground, all black and chrome and minimalist furnishing. And sure enough you don�t get it. Isab� is probably the sweetest lady in Oudtshoorn (and if she isn�t I would like introductions effected immediately). Her colonial-style house is framed by a very green garden full of bougainvillea, palms (for shade) and suffused with flowers, while a trampoline stretched at ground level and a small swimming pool will keep children running from one to the other.

There are tall pot plants, white pillars and green awnings on the verandah where adults take tea at a more sedate pace. Inside, the bedrooms are large with brass beds, wood floors, unfettered wall colours (one room is pink), plenty of frill in the furnishings and an honesty fridge. Isab� provides tea for her guests on arrival, and from that moment on could not look after you with more warmth or greater application. People file glowing reports in her vistor�s book because they insist, not her. Oudtshoorn is the capital town of the Klein Karoo - much magnificent mountain scenery and a lot of talk about ostriches.
