Doornfontein Lodge
Our guests stay in the restored original homestead or in the cottage
adjoining besides our indoor pool. During August and September the countryside
explodes in a floral splendour as the now famous Namaqualand daisies come into
bloom. Our Mississippi style riverboat is ideal for bird-watching and sun downer
cruises where numerous birds visit our wetlands.

Wing
shooting is available by prior arrangement on various peasant and duck species,
as we are forced to cull moderately during the non-breeding season. This popular
trend of travel on private estates gives the visitor a good insight to country
life through direct personal attention by the owners. We specialise in small
tour groups to maximise the West Coast farm experience.
The
farm is a working operation with 1,000 sheep and 300 head of cattle. Wheat and
other grain crops are grown in winter and our climate is typically Mediterranean
with 300mm of annual rain.
We
have 9 individually decorated rooms en suit. Our guests can be assured of our
professional and personal attention throughout there stay in a relaxed and
homely atmosphere.
