Atlantic View

Is this how film stars live? I think so. Greg
and Rainer have really splashed out and turned this Camps Bay house into a
luxury pad. Guests live on the downstairs level of the two-storey house
overlooking the pool and sea. Three rooms have the pure sea view - Greg is even
busy burying the electricity line at the back so guests dont have to look at
anything so mundane while the fourth room looks up at the mountain behind the
house. Bedrooms are slick and chic: travertine floors, modern bright local art,
orthopaedically comfortable beds, finest linen, silk cushions scattered with
care, safes hidden in cupboards, bathrobes.
Its all swishly state-of-the-art, the dernier cri of the interiors magazines
that are queuing up to photograph the place. Bathrooms are also modern with
frameless glass and side-jets in the showers and a sort of cascade-effect tap in
the baths. The rooms all open onto an outside space, where you can have
breakfast if you choose or you can have it in the sitting-cum-dining room inside
(also stylish and modern with satellite TV, DVDs and CD). When I visited the
garden had just been created. Palm trees were flown in by a 60-tonne crane no
less (as Greg says "It gave a whole new meaning to Sunday afternoon gardening")
and there are koy ponds and tropical plants. Theres also an overflow pool,
surrounded by smart chaises longues, so get your sunglasses on and dream of
Hollywood!
