quiet cul-de-sac, amidst majestic mountains with a sweeping view over Hout
Bay harbour and the bay below. We offer comfortable rooms, tasty breakfasts,

Accomodation
Each room is furnished with lovingly-preserved antiques which give the guest
house a genteel and tranquil ambience aimed at reviving the weary traveller.
Two elegantly appointed en-suite bedrooms offer luxury and comfort. A
two-roomed suite with bathroom allows one space to spread out and relax. All
rooms have sea views, private balconies/ patios, TVs, tea trays and
telephones
Location
Amblewood Guest House is situated 20 minutes outside the beautiful
city of Cape Town, South Africa in the picturesque fishing village of
Hout Bay. The name "Hout Bay" derives from the lush forests that once
graced the slopes of the mountains. Dutch founding father, Jan van Riebeeck
recorded in his diary that the magnificent forests were "the finest in the
world" and called the settlement t' Hout baaitjien which means "the small wooded
bay".
Hout Bay still boasts fine mountain walks with indigenous plants of
over 1 100 species - making it one of the riches botanical areas in the world.
Proteas are among the many Fynbos species one still finds in abundance.
