Waterkloof Guest House
Waterkloof Guesthouse is situated in the Heidelberg district a few minutes from
the fishing and holiday town of Witsand. Waterkloof is arguably one of the
finest commercial farms in the Heidelberg district. And has been in the Uys
family for 7 generations. This family dates back to the late 17th century. In
1704 the Uys family emigrated from Northern Germany is currently owned by Hannes
and Christine. They invite all to come and experience their warm hospitality and
charming decorated house.
The House
The house contains various family heirlooms from
bygone years. The home boasts four bedrooms all with en suite facilities and tea
tray and the rooms are all serviced and contain private entrances. The secluded
garden is ideal for you to wonder through or relax next to the pool. The garden
attracts a number of bird species and in fact more than fifty different species
have been counted. While relaxing around the pool enjoy Overberg Lager a
refreshing beer produced from local barley, and the beer is not commercially
available. The Uys are renown for their hospitality and good South African food.
Breakfasts are large and wholesome including fresh farm produce and for the
adventurous you can even indulge in ostrich eggs! Dinner is also available upon
request.
Area
Attractions in the surrounding area include De
Hoop Nature Reserve, Pont at Malgas, Witsand with all attractions which include
whale watching from land and by a local operator, Breede River. Arrangements are
also made to visit a private farm, which contains Bontebok and hundreds of
various species of Fynbos (Cape Floral Kingdom). Other trips include Whalecoast
Trails.
