Cape Town is one of the world's premier whale-watching spots especially for Southern Right, Humpback and Brydes whales. During the months of July through October they come close to the protective waters of the shore to calve their young. Several species of dolphins including the gorgeous bottlenose dolphin will also be found near the whales. Spectacular drives from Cape Grace around the Peninsula and along the coastal route to Gordon's Bay, Betty's Bay and Hermanus will not disappoint whale watchers.

This is also an ideal time to enjoy a cocktail or an aromatic single malt whisky from Cape Grace's new cellar, Bascule, which offers over 300 whiskies from all the whisky producing regions of the world. The view from Bascule is magnificent from its position on the edge of the Waterfront's international yacht basin and Table Mountain and Lion's Head as a backdrop.
