About 20 minutes' easy drive from downtown Cape Town, among yellow wood, palms, wild olives, lemon trees and proteas, the Hout Bay Hideaway is a luxury retreat overlooking ocean, mountains, beach and historic fishing harbour.

Accommodation

Spacious, carpeted suites and apartments, with extra-large beds (with pure cotton bed furnishings) and cosy armchairs, many genuine antiques and original oil paintings, offer mountain and sea views through tall, wooden-framed bay windows. The bathrooms are roomy, with bath and/or jet shower, toiletries, hairdryer, dual voltage sockets, under floor heating and heated towel racks. The kitchenette is equipped with a sink, toaster, microwave oven, fridge, cafetiere, cutlery, crockery, electric kettle, ironing board and steam iron.

All have access to the rocks and grottoes of the wild, climbing garden, vine-shaded verandah, barbecue area, saltwater swimming pool, sundecks, and even a secluded, fully functional Victorian bathtub under the trees.

At the Hout Bay Hideaway Cape Town guests are also offered: satellite TV, DVD, separate working area with writing desk, private safe big enough for your laptop, under floor heating in Winter, open fires when it's chilly, indigenous gardens just outside your double doors, saltwater swimming-pool, and sundecks with single and double hammocks.
