Greyhound Coach Lines is a well established South African Company specialising in luxury coach transport. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Unitrans Ltd, which is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and is a market leader in the freight industry and related transport concerns.

This sound financial background has enabled Greyhound to invest in world class quality vehicles and staff, and expand its operations to meet customer requirements.

We've Come A Long Way

Greyhound pioneered luxury coach travel as far back as 1984 when we started a service between Johannesburg and Durban utilising 3 coaches. It was a totally new transport concept at the time and one which caught the travelling public's imagination very quickly. Demand for the service grew, and today our comprehensive Intercity network covers all the major cities in South Africa. We now carry more than 400 000 passengers annually over 11 million kilometres in safety and comfort.

The Travel Pass

This competitively priced go as you please pass allows unlimited travel over a specified number of days with as many stop overs as required. It's the ideal way to see the country, especially when passengers want flexibility with their holiday itinerary.

Frequent travellers with Greyhound can join the club free of charge, and every time they travel, they accumulate points towards a free ticket.

Greyhound Discounts

Our sophisticated reservations system is fully computerised to ensure quick and accurate transactions. Bookings can be made through our Central Reservations Office in Johannesburg, our provincial reservations offices, Computicket outlets, or the Travel Agency Network.

Absa Mega U

Pay for your ticket with an Absa Mega U debit card, and receive a 5 % discount.

Children (under the age of 11 travelling with an adult)

Greyhound offers a 15% discount to all kids under the age of 11 that travel with an adult. Valid identification must be available on request.

SANDF\SAPS

Greyhound offers a 10% discount to all SANDF/SAPS members on producing valid identification.

Senior Citizens Discounts

Passengers older than 60 are eligible for a 5% discount on producing a valid ID or Senior Citzen card.

Student Discounts

Greyhound offers a 5% discount to all Tertiary Education students who produce a valid student card.

Vitality Program

Greyhound offers a 20% discount to all Discovery Health's Vitality Program members on producing a valid membership card.

Unitrans Employees

Unitrans employees receive a 10% discount on all Greyhound's routes, subject to the following conditions:

Bookings may only be made at Greyhound terminals in person by the staff member.
The discount does not apply to telephone bookings.
Only cash payments will be acceptable in order to claim the discount.
The Unitrans employee must produce his/her identity document, together with a copy his/her pay slip or staff card.
The discount is only for tickets purchased for the member, spouse and children.

Greyhound offers a 10% discount to all Orlando Pirates Supporters Club members.

We aim to make Greyhound journeys memorable for our passengers and the starting point is, of course, the quality of the vehicle. That is why we have gone to great lengths to ensure that our luxury coaches really are luxurious.

We also provide a hostess on most journeys to serve refreshments and generally make sure everyone is comfortable and has a pleasant trip.

Safety First

The safety of our passengers is high on our list of priorities and we have implemented stringent measures to ensure it.

Our vehicles not only look good, but are also regularly checked and maintained. In fact, they are thoroughly examined after each journey and do not leave the depot until even the smallest defect is repaired.

Our drivers are all trained by the Greyhound in-house training department and the programme of initial training and refresher courses is strictly adhered to. We also prescribe adequate rest periods on long journeys to ensure drivers remain alert and competent behind the wheel.
