Baraza
Looking out on the palm-fringed Camps Bay
beach, you will find Baraza Groove Bar. Baraza was inspired by the island of
Zanzibar and is reminiscent of Stone Town, a fascinating labyrinth of narrow
streets and alleyways, mosque minarets and church spires.
Meaning 'meeting place' in Swahili, Baraza is the perfect setting to finish
off a long day in the sun. You enter through a huge, beautifully decorated teak
door which is a copy of a Zanzibar entranceway. The size of the door and the
intricacies of its decoration were a sign of the family's wealth and status. The
doors were adorned with brass studs, to prevent it being battered down by
war-elephants.
