De Goewerneur Restaurant has a unique home in the oldest building in South Africa, the Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town.
Today, the Castle is the only remaining VOC outpost of the old Dutch East Indian Company that is still managed and kept as a military base.
The restaurant presents its guests with a rich variety of South African cuisine with an emphasis on the influences of Malay, Dutch and French cooking passed on through the South African history.
During the day, the speciality is pancakes, teas, coffees and scones, while at night De Goewerneur could seat up to 70 people in a historic setting adorned with contemporary South African art.
In addition the restaurant offers banqueting facilities in a choice of venues just about anywhere in the Castle. These venues range from formal to informal and cater for up to 300 people.
Should you wish to dine in full sight of Table Mountain by night, then the balcony allows unprecedented views of the Mountain and offers al fresco dining on windless and summer evenings.

Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
