Moja
Moja (the Xhosa slang for great) is an exploration of the diversity of food and
a celebration of the unity of sharing it. The new restaurant owned by James
Measures and Darren Skinner is a complementary departure from their two year old
Strega Ristorante and Po Na Na Souk bar next door. Moja's menu is a sensual
journey in taste and origination; starting with the global tapas which includes
North African dishes such as Achot (cream cheese rolled in pine nut and dill
served with pita) and Mexican elements with the Chicken Enchilada (tender free
range chicken, sweet bell peppers, spring onion and chilli wrapped in soft flour
tortilla and baked. Served with a pico di gallo sauce).
From here, one moves into the real entertainment of lava stone cooking. A
piping hot slate is brought to the table, accompanied by your dish of choice;
prime cuts of raw meat marinated in carefully sourced ingredients for you to lay
on your slate. The lava stone stays hot for fifteen minutes after which it will
be replaced if still required. The Lava Stone is a healthy way of eating as no
fat or butter is used during the cooking process and the guest gets to decide
exactly how they want their meat cooked. Moja also offers fondue with a modern
edge. There are six oil fondues and one traditional Gruyere fondue. Save space
though for the decadent chocolate fondue - a seduction of chocolate, cream and
dark rum accompanied by Boudoir biscuits, Amaretti and Biscotti as well as fresh
seasonal fruits and marshmallows.
