Rhodes Memorial
After visiting the impressive granite monument to statesman Cecil John Rhodes on
the mountain slopes overlooking the panoramic southern suburbs, a short stroll
will take you to a quiet and charming chalet that is the Rhodes Memorial
Restaurant. Built of stone from the mountain and roofed with thatch, the
interior provides a warm and cosy atmosphere in winter, while the large terrace
allows for al fresco dining in the balmy summer months.
Renowned chefs Carrie and Roy van Litsenborgh offer a varied menu to cater
for all tastes and budgets, from sandwiches to linefish and steaks. Daily
specials of seasonal dishes compliment the menu. Popular dishes are the Chicken
Masala and Beef Country Pie. The restaurant is famous for their homemade cakes
and scones which are freshly baked on the premises daily.
