The Millers Plate
The challenge facing a restaurant in Cape Town is not just to create a positive
impression on this eclectic and highly critical society, but to meet such lofty
expectations with a sense of the unexpected... Surrounded by artifacts of the
early nineteenth century, and embraced by beautiful, yet simple decoration, The
Miller's Plate at the Josephine Mill delivers the unexpected by returning to the
original premise of the restaurant. The restaurant is situated in The Josephine
Mill which is South Africa's only surviving working water mill. And we use the
mill's stone ground flour in our bread and other home-bakes which are served at
the restaurant.
Good food, well prepared, in an atmosphere that would have you trying very
hard to not relax... Light and healthy meals served in a delightful setting, (a
million miles away from next door Fedsure Park Newlands) on the Liesbeek River
in Newlands. The Miller's Plate offers a tranquil oasis of green, set in
beautiful gardens beneath majestic Oaks and delicate Japanese Maples. The menu
is simple, as is the Wine List, for which extreme care has been taken to create
an impression of exclusivity.
