Helderberg Winery Restaurant

You will find this restaurant lying at the foot of the majestic Helderberg mountain amidst the picturesque Stellenbosch wine route. The ample outside seating provides wonderful vineyard and countryside views, so it is best to arrive promptly for lunch if you wish to take advantage of the scenic setting. The atmosphere of this intimate restaurant is definitely country with its wooden furniture, cosy fireplace and rich yellow walls. Wine tasting takes place in the restaurant from 9.00am until 5.30pm during the week, and on Saturdays until 5.00pm. The full range of Helderberg wines are of course, available to enjoy with your lunch at very reasonable prices.

The restaurant is very efficiently run by Ida and Elaine, who have been partners for eleven years. All the cooking is done by themselves, using freshly prepared ingredients and they even bake their own bread. The Bobotie is excellent, and served in the traditional style with yellow rice and vegetables and, according to Ida and Elaine, is one of the most popular dishes on the menu. Another firm favourite, particularly on hot summer days, is the Mixed Platter, which offers a tempting selection of gammon, pate, cheese and salads. The desserts are all home-made too, including the delicious ice-cream which is highly recommended.
