Reel 'n Rustic
The catchy name of this award winning restaurant originated more than 70 years
ago in the state of Montana. The story goes something like this. "Some folks
inherit fortunes. Others are left huge tracts of land, but Norman James Rustic
was luckier than that. He inherited his Great Grandma's love of fine food and
cooking. Many of the techniques and dishes he carried in his head had "no
written recipe". Foodstuffs were always the freshest found and over the years
much experimenting, creating and testing went on. So it was in 1927 near the
Great Trout Rivers of Western Montana that he met Jason Reel, fly fisherman
extra-ordinaire. In 1927 Montana's population would have been the first to
admit, they were not noted for their cutting edge cuisine, so the small Grill
Room of "Reel 'n Rustic" soon became the treasured haunt of locals and visitors
alike".
The present owners of Reel 'n Rustic George, Dave Clift and Anne Pearce, are
dedicated to maintaining the reputation established by the original Reel 'n
Rustic and offers a fine selection of the freshest seafood, prime cut and aged
meats combined with exotic seasonings and spices from around the world. Stepping
through the door of Reel 'n Rustic you feel you have arrived in some small
American town in the 30's or 40's, with wonderful wall frescoes depicting scenes
from days gone by and a fascinating collection of memorabilia which adds to the
authentic atmosphere. There is an excellent wine list with Diners Club Awards
for 1998 and 1999, and a separate bar area for those who enjoy a pre-dinner
drink. Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the covered deck area which also has a
fireplace for cosy winter evenings.
