The Islander
Established over 15 years ago, the restaurant is still under the same ownership.
Started by Peter and Peddie Dodds and now under the personal supervision of
daughter Kathy and husband Dale Smith. Here you'll find yourself transported
into a tropical island setting, under thatch, with displays of exotic greenery
here and there and a relaxed atmosphere.
You'll be greeted by a seafood buffet you've seldom seen the likes of before:
A profusion of fresh fish calamari, game fish and some shellfish prepared in
various "island" styles - Creole, Polynesian, Indonesian and so forth - smoked
meats and fish and, for not-fish eaters, a selection of meat and poultry dishes,
all accompanied by a choice of fresh vegetables and salads. While you
contemplate this scrumptuous spread, you'll be offered fishy tit-bits, crusty
bread to tickle the taste buds, followed by island-style soup made from locally
caught fish and herbs fresh from the Islander's own garden.
