Bernhard's Taphuis is a well known and established restaurant situated diagonally across from the C.P. Nell Museum, located in the historic part of Oudtshoorn. The Patron, Bernhard Esterer from Austria, has been the host for over seven years to numerous local and foreign guests who come again and again to this highly successful restaurant. At the Taphuis one can enjoy country cuisine at it's very best, accompanied by the fine wines of the region. At the Ostrich hunting bar, stylish drinks and bar meals are served and the balcony beckons for convivial relaxation.

Next door to the Taphuis, Bernard established Montague House in 1997 (Cafe - Bistro - Restaurant), an Ostrich Palace which at the end of August was fully restored to its former beauty. This is the perfect stopover for smaller groups and buses for coffee, lunch and dinner. Unique in its breathtaking interior it will take you on a journey to a bygone era whilst enjoying excellent quality catering.
