Ciccio Al Fresco
Tucked away down a flight of steps just off the main street of Plettenberg Bay
is where you will find this gem of a restaurant. There is a sheltered courtyard
for al fresco dining which is usually packed during the summer months, so get
there early to avoid disappointment. The intimate interior is unpretentious with
yellowwood shelves displaying a wonderful selection of imported gourmet foods
such as pastas, olive oils, vinegars and other goods for the store cupboard.
Ciccio also stocks the best in Italian cheeses - Provalone, Mozzarella,
Gorgonzola, Ricotta and Parmesan, for those who want to whip up a storm in their
own kitchen.
Ciccio is run by experienced restaurateurs Kai and Babeloo, and is an
excellent venue for overseas visitors as Babeloo speaks not less than seven
languages! Babeloo is a charming host who moves effortlessly from table to table
conversing with patrons, whilst Kai ensures that diners receive prompt
attention, and dishes from the kitchen are dispatched efficiently. The emphasis
is on authentic Italian ingredients like the Salami and Di Buffala Mozzarella
cheese, and of course the home-made pastas with are served with a wonderful
selection of fresh sauces.
