This bright, bustling, family-run bistro, tucked away in Plettenberg Bay, in the heart of the Garden Route, is a favourite haunt of both locals and visitors alike. Throughout the languid summer months, when Plett hums with holiday-makers on the look-out for sun and sea, you are well-advised to book well ahead to ensure your table. The Med has been operating for over a decade, and is maturing gracefully - just like a good red wine! On entering the restaurant you're transported to the mediterranean coast: the decor is cool and uncluttered, the ambience welcoming and intimate. Alfresco meals are served on an adjoining greenery-enveloped patio.

Once you have worked up an appetite on one of the numerous forest and coastal walks that the area is famed for, you'll be able to do justice to the exquisite seafood on offer. Ingredients are sourced locally as far as possible, quality and freshness being the criteria: plump, flavourful local calamari; Southern Cape coastal oysters; fresh soles and, of course, just-caught fish are all menu highlights. Everthing is presented simply, with light sauces and minimal garnishing. If you aren't in the mood for seafood, you'll be equally well catered for.
