Rhebokskloof Restaurant
Rhebokskloof dates back to 1692 when Simon Van der Stel gave a free grant to
Dirk Van Schalkwyk. The Estate is named after the small buck, Rhebok, which used
to roam freely in the area and which are still occasionally seen in the
vineyards. The Estate has two renowned restaurants - The Victorian Restaurant
and Terrace offers a la carte breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon teas,
whilst The Cape Dutch Restaurant serves an excellent Sunday lunch buffet and is
also suitable for hosting private functions. During the colder months patrons
can dine in cozy dining rooms with burning fires and during the summer months
enjoy the panoramic views from the Victorian Terrace.
The menus have been thoughtfully planned to offer patrons a chance to sample
South African specialities such as the marinated Ostrich with peanut butter
sauce and spicy Beef Samoosa with chutney sauce, Franschhoek Salmon Trout, or
Cape Bouillabaisse consisting of catch-of-the day, prawns and clams. Main course
traditional dishes include the delicately flavoured Springbok, or Veal and
Ostrich combination with lavender sauce, both of which are highly recommended.
For those preferring a more cosmopolitan menu the deliciously crisp Duck Spring
Rolls are extremely popular, as is the Duo of Catch and Seafood in a safron
fum, and for a truly memorable dessert, the Aubergine and Ricotta Timbale
served with caramelised golden delicious and fruit coulis is a must.
